2011 in Requiem.

I love this picture, I think it's an accurate depiction of how my year has been.

It is weird sitting here at the end of another year. I still feel like January just happened and I don't know how I feel about a new year being on our doorstep. It was a interesting year for me, if you do not know I deferred the spring semester of school to work at Logan regional hospital as a Phlebotomist. Because of that decision I spent 8 months away from my friends, this self imposed exile let me do a lot of thinking, and figure out who I am, what I am looking for in this life, and what I want to do with my life. it also was a dark time as well, I didn't make the best of choices and because of this I didn't have very many friends, I would go to work, and come home and watch tv or movies, and play video games. I'm not necessarily proud of it but it was my decision and I lived with it. I just wanted to go through and highlight some of my favorite parts of this year.

Jessica came down to visit me over winter semester and we went out to Hardware ranch and saw the Elk! it was so much fun. The best part was when a random lady on the sled with us asked if we were married, I replied "oh no we're not married" and the woman looked at me with a little disappointment in her eyes and said "well you really should, you two are a really cute couple.." I didn't have the heart to tell her that we aren't together so I just kept my mouth shut. later Jessica told me that I needed to make her an "honest woman" lol so funny.

A nice bull elk that was out there.

I went down one weekend in April to watch my roommate get married. and I stayed the night at my cousin Chris and his wife robins place. the next morning we, plus their son Tyson went hiking above his parents house in Farmington. It was a lot of fun, I love those guys so much.

We stopped by a stream to rest and Tyson was just chattering away with me, he is so cute. Uncle Sean is his favorite!

Through a interesting series of events we met these girls that are awesome. the first week of the semester we went to a school dance and my roommates, these girls, and I danced the night away. everyone was jealous and wanting to join our circle because we were so much fun. anyway at one point we met this guy, who kinda looks like Justin Bieber and dresses like him. So we jokingly referred to him as DUSTIN Bieber, and the girls had to get a picture with him lol.

I was truly blessed with some amazing roommates, This is Dillon, Matt, and Jake. Dillon is 19 and the others are 18, I had so much fun with these guys this semester.

My roommate Kevin is in this picture with Jake. this picture describes their relationship well... lol. Kevin was probably one of the most influential people in my life this semester, he is an amazing friend.

This is my last roommate Sam, and this picture explains him perfectly, he is sitting cross legged at the fhe sisters reading 17 magazine. lol. he is one of the most humble, charitable people I have ever known, I strive to be like him some day.

I was so blessed to have some amazing women in my life this year. KayDee was one of my fhe sisters this last semester and we became fast friends. I love her to death and can talk to her about anything, she even wrote a paper about me for her english class and got an A on it, lol.

This is Megan. she is another of my fhe sisters, she is one of the funniest girls I know, and I remember the first words she said to me. at the start of the semester we were out in a field playing ultimate frisbee and it was starting to thunder and lighting a ton. I shook my fist and said "curse you Percy Jackson!" to which she whipped her head around and said "You like Percy Jackson! that is so cool" from that moment on we were friends.

This for obvious reasons was the highlight of my semester, The girls had mistletoe in their apartment so I got some kisses from them, then they remembered that they bought some bright pink lipstick, so KayDee and Megan ran and put some on and then kissed me again.

This semester I took the EMT basic class and absolutely loved it. These guys are seriously like family to me. I have never been as close to a group of classmates as I have been with these guys. near the end of the semester our teacher took us to the fire department and we got to see all the ambulances and fire trucks and we got to play with the jaws of life. Here are most of my friends from that class, I will never forget you guys! BSI! scene is safe!

This is Hanna watching Liz put Kevin in a KED, a device for immobilizing a persons spine from a seated position. we would have lab every week and work on our skills.

This is Darylyn, I sat next to her most of the semester in my EMT class, she is a super shy girl, and the whole semester I would flirt with her and joke around about anything and everything. If you ask anyone from my class we had a love/hate relationship, I would always joke around and say things and she would glare and shake her head at me, I will miss breaking her out of her shell and seeing her true personality.

This is Samantha, or Samwise as we called her. She is an old friend from 2010, she is now serving her mission in San Francisco, so she came up one weekend to say goodbye to her friends that were up here. So we had a party and said goodbye.

We got together again as a family for Thanksgiving, and had a lot of fun. I love getting everyone together and having a great time. this is my cousin Brandi, she is a Rood through and through lol.

Ever since I was a kid I remember at all our family reunions and get together's we would play Mexican train dominoes, so here is my family at thanksgiving keeping the tradition alive.

after thanksgiving we went Pheasant hunting, It was a lot of fun to go out and shoot some birds, here's my cousin Chris, his dog Bowdie and me with my shotgun as we were stalking some birds.

Chris and I after the hunt, I love this guy so much, he is like a brother to me.

near the end of semester I met this amazing girl, her name is Megan and the other night we decorated this ginger bread house together, I am excited to get to know her better, and continue seeing her into the next year.

My cousin Jake, my other brother, and his wife had their son two weeks ago, his name is Simon and he is so adorable, I usually don't think babies are that cute until they get out of the blob stage, but he is soooo cute. I am so happy for them, that they are starting the next stage of their life together. Babies are truly a miracle.

This year also was not without some pain and heartbreak, but that is life and I am happy for the experiences I have. I am loving the classes I took and I have decided I want to be a paramedic and want to go that route.

A scary thing that happened this year was on Halloween, I woke up with my heart in Atrial Fib again. My heart was racing and I felt really light headed, as I tried to explain to my roommate Jake what was wrong with me I got my stethoscope and told him to listen. He was pretty freaked out by my heart. I waited for the student health center to open and went to get checked out. I told the receptionist lady that my heart was in Atrial Fibrillation, and I needed to see the doctor. they sent me back and the nurse came in and checked me out, she didn't seem to really believe me. then a PA student comes in and I told her about my heart problem and how I believed that I was in atrial fib. she looked at me and said, "if you were in atrial fib you would be dead" I shook my head and said no, that's ventricular fib (thank you sister dameron!) and she said that they would do a electrocardiogram on me and see what was going on. so I get the ECG done and I look at the paper and see that yes I am in atrial fib. the doctor comes in and talks about maybe putting me on some meds to chemically change me over. I asked to get shocked. so they send me to the ER and I fill the doctor in there, they start an IV on me and get me drugged up to take the shock. they gave me the shock and everything appeared to be good. they wanted to keep me for a little while to see how I was doing. about an hour later I was sitting in my bed and my stomach was hurting, it was now around 1:30pm and I hadn't eaten anything since the night before, so I just attributed it to not having eaten. then my stomach started hurting a lot more, then I got this burning feeling in my chest and it started radiating out to my limbs and my legs. lastly it went to my head and I had this really hot flushed feeling. I looked out the window to the nursing area and saw no one there. I turned and looked at the monitor and my heartbeat was 47, I turn and look at the window and see no one there, I look over again and see that it was 41 and dropping, I turn back to the door and yell "HELP!" I see a nurse come around the desk with a confused look on her face, once she opens the door and looks at the monitor I see her eyes go as big as dinner plates, and she turns around and yells, "I need help in here, someone call respiratory therapy!" I flop my head over and my heartbeat is 37, as the nurses rush in and drop my head back I look over one more time and see that my heart rate is 26, I then looked up at the ceiling and I can remember thinking to myself "so this is what dying feels like" I remember saying a prayer, "God, I don't want to die, but if it's my time so be it." as the nurses put oxygen on my face and get ready to shock me again, the doctor says wait, my heart rate stayed steady around 25-30 beats, then it went back up again to around 40. it stayed around 40 for maybe 5 minutes, then it went back up to around 60 for a minute or two, then it went up to around 75 and stayed strong. they didn't have to shock me again, and they held me for a couple more hours then sent me home when I didn't deteriorate again. They said that I must of had a vagal incident and when they shocked me the first time they must have stimulated that nerve and it brought my heart rate down. I'm not going to lie it shook me up really bad, and it took a couple weeks to recover. I honestly felt like I was dying, and it was so scary. I am so grateful for the gift of life, and the opportunity to be alive. I truly have a better understanding and better outlook on life for having gone through this ordeal.

I was able to let go of a lot of pain this semester, I have had terrible luck the last three years in the dating department, just girls not wanting to date seriously or get into relationships. I would take them out on a couple dates and they would say lets just be friends. after a while it really started to build up and get to me. I felt like I wasn't attractive, that there was something I did to drive the girls away, that there was something wrong with me. I became kind of jaded also. I would be confident on the dates but wouldn't have my hopes up because I knew it wouldn't go anywhere. anyway that was how I felt. My roommate Sam helped me realize where I went wrong. He helped me realize how amazing I am. The personality that makes people gravitate to me, and how I can make anyone feel loved and welcome. I have a lot of attributes and things I can bring to the table. It's not my fault that those girls couldn't see me for what I am and they didn't like me, it is their problem. they had a chance to have the best thing to happen to them and they gave it up. I feel so liberated now! I feel like a huge weight was taken off of my chest. I love myself again and feel so much better about me as a person. my confidence level is higher than it has been in a long time. I thank Sam for all his help this semester, and owe everything to him.

This year has been a great year of personal growth and fun times, I am excited as we travel into 2012 and see what this year brings. I am ready for the trials and pains that it will bring and will live life to the fullest so I can enjoy the joy and love that it will bring.

I will see you all in a next year friends!

Nice guys finish last...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fz3zFqLc3E&feature=related

Here's a funny song that I think illustrates my point pretty well.

Basically the point of this post is to start an argument/prove a point. My point is this, Most girls, now I said most girls not all girls. Most girls go only for Jerks and douche bags. Nice guys are not "mysterious" or "dangerous" enough for the girls so they go for the guys that are "projects" or make them excited because they are bad boys. If their friends or family say something, or tell them they are bad for them, they don't listen. then when they're hurt the nice guys are there for them, yet still they wont go for the "good guys"

First I want to address this "mysterious" thing that girls have for guys, don't you realize that all people are mysterious? You need to get to know everyone. There is this excitement that the girls feel with the mysterious guys, you know why they're mysterious? those guys have lots of secrets, and they don't want you to know about them, so they don't let you in and keep you at arms length. they're usually just in it all for a piece of ass. if you really got to know them you would see how fake they are.

Now I want to address the friend zone. I think this is the stupidest thing ever and ALL girls do it. You meet a girl and spend time with her, but if you spend too much time, or get to know her at all, you get placed in a cold little hell that there is no escape from.the funny thing is if you're the "friend" and are stuck in the friend zone you are no longer a sexual option. you are like a brother, or cousin. You are fun but there will be no dating between you and said girl. I mean every girl dreams of marrying her best friend, but she won't date any of her "friends" as soon as a guy gets seated in the friend zone he is undateable, and it is almost impossible for him to get out.

Here is a comment from the Chicago Tribune about the friend zone.

"When a guy agrees to be friends, he's forced to stifle his attraction while regularly seeing and talking to the woman he's attracted to. She discusses her love life and has the audacity to ask his advice on it. He performs occasional "manly" household and automotive favors for the woman. Essentially, he does everything a boyfriend would do––without the benefits. -- Gina B., Chicago Tribune, 2007"

I've been there many times, it really tears you apart.

You can take it how it is or decide whatever you want, I know I am ranting, and I know I am complaining a little, but I am just trying to tell it how it is, if you disagree with me, or agree with me let me know, maybe we can come up with a cure for this disease. But what I really think needs to happen is girls need to give those nice guys a chance, or if you move them into the friend zone and they ask you out, go out with them. Give them a chance to woo you, if they don't then they go right back. You never know what you could be passing up.

I don't know, it is crazy how girls do that. I guess that I should just start treating girls like trash, and objects, maybe that will get them to notice me... they seem to like being treated like crap so if I start doing it I might get a girlfriend, what do you think readers? should I start flipping my collar and wearing a sideways ball cap? if it will get me the girls I'm tempted to try it.

I am so old...

Last night my roommate who is a new freshman this fall, finally came home from orientation, and he brought with him two friends from back home and those two each brought a roommate. I found myself sitting in a room with 5 18 year olds. now I'm not saying they weren't cool, they actually are a lot of fun, but I just felt old. I'm 24, that's a 6 year difference. So I was trying to relate with them on a lot of things, and we had a fun time talking. it ended up that I was teaching them all this wisdom I have accumulated here at school. I taught them how to get girls to make dinners for them, how to get girls phone numbers, and fun ways to know girls all over campus. I felt a lot like yoda when he is teaching the younglings in star wars. It will be a lot of fun to find out over the next week or two if they get dinner or numbers from girls. I think this is gonna be a fun semester.

Tv shows

So since I have been at home in Logan and don't have many friends, I have been watching a lot of tv shows. The thing is I don't watch tv, but I watch a lot of tv shows, and if you don't already know it I'm kind of a scifi junkie/nerd. I love scifi tv shows, and as I was watching some of my favorites, I thought about how whenever I hear people talk about their favorite shows, these don't come up. So I am going to share a couple of my favorites and see if I can spark some interest in them amongst my friends.
The first show I want to talk about is Fringe.

It is a show about a FBI team that deals with weird events and unexplained happenings, dealing with the "fringe" sciences, such as parallel universes, quantum mechanics, and other weird things.

The lead character is Olivia Dunham, she is the FBI agent that works alongside Dr. Walter Bishop, and his son Peter Bishop. Walter, working with his partner William Bell, did many experiments in the 60's and 70's into the fringe sciences, (he actually worked on Olivia when she was a little girl) after a lab accident where an assistant was killed, Walter was charged with manslaughter and deemed mentally unfit to be tried, he was placed in a facility for 17 years. Olivia, after finding out about bishop frees him and with his past experience is able to make sense of the strange things going on. His character is very quirky and funny. he practiced lots of experiments using LSD and did many recreational drugs back in the 60's and with his 17 years in the mental facility he says many funny thing and acts very strange. Now peter bishop, takes care of his father, but is in every way as smart as his father is. but there is a secret about peter that we find out about as we watch the show.
All in all, it is a show about strange things happening then they solve the problem. much like any other crime show, yet theres deals with the paranormal and oddities.

The second show I want to mention is Warehouse 13.

The premise of Warehouse 13 is that there are "artifacts" that have special powers. things that people have used in the past that carry part of them or can affect people who touch the artifact. examples would be, General grants flask. the person who drinks from it will believe he is in the Civil war and start fighting people. there are many different artifacts in this giant warehouse in south dakota, called warehouse 13 since it is the 13th warehouse since ancient times.

the secret service agents that work in warehouse 13, Artie, Micah, claudia, and pete. pete and micah are the field agents that go out all over the country/world and find the artifacts and "bag em and tag em" the artifacts are brought back to the warehouse where they are put on a shelf, and held to protect the general public. Artie is the leader of the group and the oldest of the warehouse team. Claudia is the youngest and is a computer whiz, brining a lot of much needed new technology into the warehouse. many parts of it still use notecards and other older means of inventorying everything. I really enjoy this show for the characters, they are really fun. pete is the ex marine, goof off, funny guy that makes boob jokes and always says one liners from movies. he has this "ability" that he gets vibes that somethings wrong and it usually is right. Micah is the strong female character, she is smart and very well versed in classic literature, between pete's intuition and micah's smarts, they make up a good team.

Third we have Sanctuary.

This show is amazing, first off they use CG for most of the set. probably 50 percent of the sets are made with CG. that way they have no budget restricitons when it comes to how they want a set to look or how many rooms they have in the Sanctuary. The premise of the Sanctuary is this, there are "abnormals" all over the world. strange creatures out of fairy tales and stories. like mermaids, strange humanoids and other things. basically they are endangered since humans have spread so much around the globe and we kill their habitats. also some of them are dangerous.

like this lizard guy

anyway Dr. Helen Magnus and her team go around the world and "hunt" these abnormals. their mission is to bring them back to the sanctuary where they can live in safety. they have many different missions and problems, from smugglers, to people trying to attack the sanctuary itself.
I won't give too much away on the characters, but you learn so much about them and how they came to be who they are. it is a really enjoyable show where you can have a bunch of laughs. oh there also are lycanthropes, vampires, and jack the ripper.

4th and last is probably my favorite out of all 4 of these right now. That show would be V.
now it hasn't been renewed for a third season yet, but we are hoping ABC comes forward. The whole premise of this show is all of a sudden one day 29 space ships show over 29 major cities around the world.

the bottom of the ships can project images like a tv and we see Ana. Ana is the queen and leader of the "visitors". "We are at peace, always" is a phrase you often hear from her.

The visitors give us new technology, healing centers, blue energy (a kind of renewable, clean, energy) without asking for anything. humans are brought aboard to live on the ships and visitors mingle amongst our people. soon a terrorist group known simply as the fifth column made up of visitors and humans alike try and fight back against Ana and the other V's. as time goes on we see that there is a sinister side to the visitors. the main character Erica Evans is an FBI agent in charge of the details that protect Ana and her retinue when they go around New York City. Her son, ends up falling in love with Lisa, Ana's daughter. this brings a vicious triangle and Erica trys to help the fifth column fight Ana, but keep her son safe as he wants to be with Lisa on the ship. A few episodes of this show brought me to tears and moved me in ways a Tv show has never done. I would recomend this one to anyone that likes a scifi show about aliens and intrigue.

So there you go. Those are my top 4 scifi shows that I have watched or am currently watching. what are your favorite shows? I hope I perked your interest. most people seem to have a stigma about scifi shows, they wouldnt be caught dead watching them, yet they are huge fans of Lost, which is a huge scifi show. anyway, if you decide you don't like these, I guess you could just keep watching Glee and desperate houswives...

24

If you were looking for this post to be about a jack Bauer or 24, I'm sorry to Disappoint, but here's a picture for you,

See? doesn't that help a little? I think so,

Well The title for this blog post is because today is my Birthday!
Yes, I turn 24 today, which feels weird, in some ways my last birthday seems a lifetime ago, but it also feels like it was a short time ago. I am excited to feel the curse that comes with being 23 to dissipate... if you don't know what I'm talking about I have provided a link that teaches all about it. http://youtu.be/K7l5ZeVVoCA

There have been so many developments in my life since I last posted I don't know where to begin... I got a job! I am now a Phlebotomist at the Hospital here in Logan, I am making just over 10 dollars and hour and really enjoy my job.

Me donning the gear before I go into the negative pressure room.

So I go around each day drawing peoples blood, people make a lot of vampire jokes and I laugh along, luckily no one has said anything about twilight, I might have to kill them if they do... lol So that's what I've been doing most this winter, it is really cool getting a look at the medical field, I go around to all the different departments in the hospital and get to see all the different workers, and learn about stuff. I know that isn't too descriptive but I get to see the nurses work alongside the doctors and cna's at traumas and codes while I'm drawing blood.

Now to the sad news, I will not be returning to Rexburg this week. I have chosen to remain and work to make money for school. I have been just using my loans to go so far, and haven't been able to get a job in Rexburg. So this is an opportunity to make some money for school, also when I had all my heart problems a little over a year ago, I have medical bills from that, that I need to take care of. So I guess I am making the adult decision to stay behind and better myself financially, man adult decisions can suck sometimes lol. why can't I go back to when I was a kid? or even better High school, and all I had to worry about was who's house we were playing halo at this week. lol

This was basically every day at my high school senior year...

But there is so much to be thankful for in making grown up decisions, I mean I am actually doing something with my life, I served a mission for my church, came home, got a job, and have been going to school the last two years and have been working, so I have learned a lot about life and being a man, and I'm thankful for the opportunity I have to test myself and to experience everything life has to offer. Even though I say I would love to sit around and do nothing, or play videogames all day, that would get old after a while and I would start to go crazy, lol

I finally broke down and after a year of procrastinating I started the Wheel of time series by Robert Jordan, and I haven't been able to put it down since.... I am on the 6th book in the 13 book series and have been reading them since early February, considering they are around 960 pages each I feel like I am blasting through them. It is a fantasy series with a story line that is hard to explain, it is very complex, the one good thing I love about this series is the in depth characters! this book has the best character development I have seen in any series before. going from the first book to this one the characters have grown and matured so much, but you can still see the young people they were in the first one. it is amazing to be reading and find yourself laughing along with the characters at a joke or smiling at a characters awkwardness with speaking with women. I truly love this series and am sad for when it ends.

I have recently found an online TV show that I find to be extremely hilarious, it is called "The Guild"

and here they dressed up as their characters.

This is their characters in game

The whole premise of the show is it is a guild that plays an MMO (massive multiplayer online) game. They go through all sorts of problems with their guild and a rival one in the four season there are. the best part about the show is the players are awkward and have hard problems with social skills but are breaking out of their shell and meeting each other and dealing with trying to be normal. the episodes are on youtube and the average length of an episode is around 4-5 minutes. since I have been in a clan (a first person shooter version of a guild) and have played video games a lot in my life I find their humor and jokes to be very enjoyable, and it brings back good memories. Also you can never get enough of awkward people who almost never have social interactions.

Also I started online dating, which at first was kind of embarrassing, but I felt that I needed to broaden my horizons, I was tired of the immature girls that only wanted to go out and get a free meal, not take dating seriously. I have met a girl, She is awesome and we have gone on 4 dates now. It is really exciting to have met someone so awesome, spiritual, confident, and beautiful, and it seems like she enjoys my company which is a plus lol. anyway I will keep you all updated as events happen.

Well this has been probably my longest post ever, and I hope you all enjoyed it. until then...

Good night, and good luck
